Dro’s Coaching Philosophy

Any player has what it takes to reach their maximum potential. My goal as a coach is to unlock players inner talents, confidence, and develop a high level of work rate through personalized programs. There are a majority of players that are often overlooked during team practices and this can harm their development as a player, individually, and as a member of a team. One on one training situations will help me as a coach create personalized and structured training sessions and help your player excel in a team environment. There is no better feeling for me as a coach leaving training knowing a player has improved mentally, physically and spiritually. To become an exceptional soccer player, it takes consistency and discipline on a mental and physical level. I truly believe that any player can become extraordinary as long as they are willing to accomplish their goals. Without structured goal setting, it is hard to determine whether or not a player really has improved. This is why as a coach I utilize SMART goals to ensure accomplishment and create goals that are achievable. As a player who was very hard on himself, processing failure was difficult for me. Although failing is something that is often avoided amongst the many, I believe it is crucial in their journey as athletes. By pushing players beyond their limits and overcoming difficult challenges, they will break through mental and physical barriers to take them to the next level. That is why I implement goal making to motivate players to look beyond their failures, learn from them, and lead them to mastery experiences. In doing so, players will adopt a NEVER GIVE UP attitude. I love this sport. I lead by example, I will actually train with players during training sessions and demonstrate the entirety of an exercise to ensure understanding. My favorite practices and memories of training sessions is when the coach was just as passionate and involved as I was. When players see a coach as a role model rather than someone who is giving them orders, it sparks a sense of motivation which takes players far. There is nothing I will ask a player to do that I cannot do myself. Lastly, I am an avid believer that maximizing performance is not just about how you train, it’s also about how you fuel your body and how you recover. Sufficient hydration, a balanced diet, and 8+ hours of healthy sleep is invaluable to all soccer players.
